Research and Development
To create the burning paper effect in Cinema4D, I used a setup built around a Vertex Map.
An invisible sphere triggers the Rigid Body tag when it touches the ash (Voronoi Fracture) inside the cigarette.
Here's what happens:
— Physics Activation: The sphere activates Rigid Body physics, enabling gravity and causing the Voronoi Fracture pieces to fall.
— Transparency Effect: The sphere also activates the Vertex Map, making the cigarette's outer layer (white paper) transparent.
— Burnt Material: The same Vertex Map, combined with extra nodes, applies a "burnt" material to the paper.
— Smoke Generation: An invisible object moves in sync with the burning paper and generates smoke.

I also used additional tricks for particles, extra smoke, and other details, but those are minor and not worth detailing here.
